Kalbarri Beach Resort

We recently went on our first family trip to Kalbarri, around six hours drive from Perth and booked in for seven nights at the Kalbarri Beach Resort. This resort is a great price for what you get – we paid only $110 a night for a two bedroom apartment and highly recommend it to anyone travelling to Kalbarri with the family!

The resort is in a great location adjacent to the river and only a short distance from the main town. It took around two minutes to drive into the town or ten minutes to walk.

TWO BEDROOM APARTMENT

The apartment itself is basic but comfortable.- for a family of five we had ample space. One bedroom had a double bed and the other room a set of bunks and another single bed. There is also a small lounge, dining area and kitchen. The best part was the open area out the back door – we were right opposite the pool with a large grass area so we could sit just outside our back door and the kids could run around and play, or head to the playground not far from our room. And defnitley ask for a ground floor room if possible as it’s much easier and more enjoyable with little kids!

(Pics are from Kalbarri Beach Resort website because my kids trashed the room before I even had a chance to take a pic haha!)

RESTAURANTS

Outside the resort there is a café, fish and chip shop, bottle shop and surf shop. The resort itself has a restaurant called Dirt Dust and Diesels and we really enjoyed the meals here, and they also offer take away which is a bonus for those nights you just can’t be bothered! An ice creamery and waffle house right next door the restaurant was great for an afternoon treat for the kids. (Make sure you try the salted caramel ice cream, delicious!)

FOR THE KIDS

There is a large pool with a great toddler area which was perfect for our three year old and a deeper lap style area for adults and older kids. We didn’t use the pool much as the water was too cold for the kids but they loved having a heated spa each afternoon instead. There is a blackboard where you write your room number on each half hour slot to “book” the spa.  There is also a games room in the pool area (which is gated so kids must be accompanied by an adult) which has a ping pong table and arcade games, and a giant chess board on the grass in the pool area.

There are two playgrounds in the resort and my three spent a lot of time in the arvos playing on them while it was a bit windy out on the beach. One was right near our room which was great, we could sit out the back having a wine and watch them play!

AMENITIES

For those that like to do their washing there is a guest laundry which costs $4 for a washing machine and $2 for a dryer, and powder If you need it is $1 a packet. I did our washing twice as it’s so much nicer to return home to clean washing than catch up on days of washing when you get home. There is also a clothes airer in the rooms.

We really enjoyed our stay at Kalbarri Beach Resort. It is a great price, in a great location and well set out for kids – We will defnitley be back! You can book your stay direct here or through the visitor centre here.
