Hoi An Silk Marina Resort & Spa

Being a family of 5 we struggled a little to find accommodation to fit us all in Vietnam, especially in Hoi An. Most hotels required u to have two rooms rather than a family room, so we ended up booking two rooms at the Hoi An Silk Marina Resort. We didn’t realise the rooms weren’t connecting so we had to split up – I took the boys and hubby took  our daughter, but the rooms were next to each other so it wasn’t a huge deal. It was also a great price so really affordable to have both rooms and meant we had quite a fair amount of room!

THE RESORT

The resort is situated along the river, about a 5 minute walk from the Old Town. It was a great location with mini marts directly out the front aswell as laundry stalls and day spas. The resort has a nice open lobby that looked out into the pool area and the staff were welcoming and friendly.

POOL

There is one main pool which is divided into 3 tiers – the top tier being shallow for little kids and toddlers, the second being a little deeper, again great for kids. Then the main large pool area with pool bar. The lifeguards / pool boys were great and loved mucking around with the kids. We loved our days around the pool when we needed relief from the heat or a day off touring, it was so relaxing –  my little one could pop his floatie on and play in the toddler pool while we relaxed next to the pool. The pool also looks onto the river, making it a beautiful setting.

ROOMS

Our rooms were Deluxe rooms with balconies and were a fantastic size, around 40sqm.  These rooms have a double bed, sitting area, large bathroom and a balcony. The décor was modern and elegant, and the bathroom was a really generous size. The rooms were a fantastic and we would definitely chose to have two rooms again next time, just preferably interconnecting.

RESTAURANTS

The main restaurant is Thu Bon, which faces onto the pool and river and is where the buffet breakfast was served. The food here was fantastic and offered something from every cuisine, and at a great price. We had dinner here most nights and always enjoyed the food – and for around $35-$40 for entrees, mains, kids meals and drinks you can’t complain! You can also order food around the pool at the pool bar which was the same menu. Happy hour was between 4-7 and was a buy one get one free offer.

ACTIVITIES

There was no proper staffed kids club but there was a great little outside area by the pool filled with toys for the little ones which my three year old enjoyed! They also have bikes for hire for free so you can head into the Old Town and explore it by bicycle.

SPA & GYMNASIUM

We didn’t use either of these facilities but did have a brief look and both looked fantastic. The spa was lovely, bright and clean and the gym had ample equipment available.
