Grand Mirage Resort – A Kid’s Paradise !

The Grand Mirage Resort & Spa in Benoa, Nusa Dua is famous for its all inclusive resort style holiday. –Guests can buy different inclusive packages, some including food to packages including water sports and more. We were lucky to find a Scoopon deal for a Kids Suite (which for once included 3 kids) for 5 nights! We snapped it up as it  was a great price at $1,000. It also came with some extras, you gotta love that! Dinner and massage vouchers and free airport transfers.

The Resort has a new wing, called the Family Paradise Suites, which is in a different section to the main hotel and  caters just for families. We only ventured to the main part of the hotel for the buffet dinners and a couple of lunches but aside from that, we never left the Family Paradise Suites!  Why would you with so much on offer??  It really is a kids paradise!!

THE ROOMS

This is the best part of the stay and by far the coolest kid’s suite we have stayed in to date!. The kids suite is sectioned off from the main room by a sliding door and features a bunk bed as well as a pull out trundle, fitting three kids perfectly. It is so beautifully decorated with scatter cushions and star and moon lights fitted on the walls.  There is a TV and beanbag which is great for tired kids to wind down at the end of the night.

My other favourite part would be the kid’s bathroom! This bathroom has been designed especially for kids with mini basins, toilet and cute décor throughout. My kids loved having their own bathroom as they haven’t had that at any other hotel!

The rest of the room was lovely, bright and modern and the bathroom was incredible. A giant bath /shower combined which was a winner for me – I am a huge bath lover so being able to wind down at night in such a ginormous bath was amazing.

Our room was situated right near the kids club, so we could sit on our little porch and see them play which was a bonus. It did get very noisy at night as kids were often playing until 11pm around the kids area, which would be my only complaint with our room location. Other than that, it was perfect. Short walk to the pool and metres away from the kids club.

THE POOLS

The pools at the Family Paradise Wings were again, designed for both kids and adults. There is one main pool with a giant waterslide which is great for both adults and kids and around near the kids activity area there is a Splash Zone. The Splash Zone has waterslides, giant tipping buckets, water shooting guns and much more. The older kids loved this, but my three year old wasn’t a fan of having water tipped on his head at all directions so he opted out of this area! There is another lagoon style pool over at the main hotel which has a swim up pool bar aswell as volleyball nets and more.

KIDS ACTIVITIES AND KIDS CLUB

When I said this hotel was a kid’s paradise I wasn’t lying! There are so many activities available including giant chess (my son is a HUGE chess fan!), ping pong, pool table, boxing ring, electronic gaming room and of course, the kids playground and kids club. The playground is open from 9am and your kids can play in there whenever they like with an adult around. There is a ball pit, foam climbing equipment, blocks, cars, books and movies.  Otherwise you can sign them into the kids club (ages 4 and up, poor Jay again didn’t make the cut!) where they have a full day of great activities on offer. It was around $12 an hour to leave Jay in there with a babysitter, so we just took him for plays ourselves, and the other kids didn’t want to sign into the kids club, preferring to play chess and ping pong with friends they made at the hotel. The kids club staff were all so lovely and remembered all the kid’s names, always greeting them when they walked past and asking them to come and play.

RESTAURANTS

The breakfast buffet was upstairs from 7am and had a wide variety of food. From the usual cereals to pastries, fresh eggs and pancakes, to chicken dishes, fried rice and soups. The kids were also served hot chocolate which they loved! It was never busy at 7am and there was always ample space which was great.

The restaurant by the pool served a basic lunch menu including kids meals and The Grand Café in the main hotel was fantastic for lunch.  The kids meals were so big they easily fed two, sometimes all three of mine!

The buffet dinner with a show was great and the food absolutely amazing. We used our free dinner coupons included with our Scoopon deal for these and I couldn’t recommend it enough. SO much food and all so tasty.

 SPA

Alysse and I were lucky enough to be spoilt to a massage treatment in the Resort Spa. This was a huge treat, as its something we generally never splurge on. Alysse had a 90min kid’s package which included a full body massage, facial and foot massage and I was treated to a 60min hydrotherapy massage in the pool. Having never tried this sort ofmassage before, I found it very interesting! You enter a large heated saltwater pool and slowly follow around each jet station. The jets are strong and intense (and caused me some serious itching!) and are supposed to be fantastic for cellulite reduction and removing toxins. This was followed by a lovely foot massage.

LOCATION

The hotel has its own private beach and there are many water sports on offer like the underwater sea walker, jet skis, snorkelling, parasailing and more. We didn’t get around to tryingany of the water sports on this trip, however we did enjoy lazing around on the beach.

Located just out the front of the hotel are a few mini-marts, which most of you know come in handy, especially with kids. We could easily stock up on water and snacks throughout the day, and of course ice creams!

There is also a lovely lady directly out from  the hotel on the beach who did all my washing for me in a day and at a great price too.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Grand Mirage and would defnitley return. It’s obvious they have put a lot of thought into the new kids paradise wing, to make it a great place for families – and it really is.

This post is not sponsored in any way and is 100% of my own personal opinion. We received complimentary spa treatments during our stay.
